Is an In-Person Kickoff right for you?

The In-Person Kickoff is for organizations that want a fast reset — not a typical offsite. This experience is built around change agreements, shared vision artifacts, and agreements about what's actually going to change.

"We need a fast reset — not another offsite that feels good and then nothing changes."

You've been through the business-as-usual offsite before. Lots of energy in the room, everyone leaves inspired, and then it's back to the same priorities, same conflicts, same drift. You want something that sticks.

"We need to leave the room aligned, not just 'aligned.'"

Real alignment means change agreements — not just nodding in the room. You want a shared vision of change that's memorialized in artifacts your team can actually reference and use.

"We have strategy, but it's in people's heads, not on paper."

Your leadership team knows what matters, but it hasn't been captured in a way the rest of the organization can understand and act on. You need that one-page strategy document that makes it real.

"Our team needs to have the hard conversations — with a guide."

There are disagreements, competing priorities, or unspoken tensions. You want a skilled facilitator who can surface and navigate those dynamics productively, not paper over them.

"We want to leave with real plans, not just inspiration."

Draft OKRs, behavior change plans, strategy artifacts — you want tangible output from the day, not just a motivational experience. You want agreements about what's actually going to change before leaving the room.

Not seeing yourself? If your team is distributed and wants to learn the methodology remotely, try the Remote Kickoff. If you want expert guidance through the entire OKR creation process, consider Done-with-You OKR Consulting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between this and Done-with-You OKR Consulting? +

In-Person No-BS OKRs Kickoff is a facilitation-focused offering. I guide your offsite and help you create draft OKRs together, but finalizing and implementing them is your work afterward.

Done-with-You OKR Consulting is expert guidance through the entire OKR creation and implementation process — from draft to finished, high-quality OKRs. You still do the work, but with a skilled guide beside you at every step.

Think of the offsite as a great starting point. If you want expert guidance all the way through, Done-with-You OKR Consulting is the better path.

Can you facilitate a remote or virtual offsite? +

For virtual sessions, consider the Remote No-BS OKRs Kickoff instead. The in-person format works best when your team benefits from being in the same room — especially for teams with significant conflict or new leadership configurations.

We'll discuss format during the Q&A and I'll give you my honest recommendation based on your situation.

How far in advance do we need to book? +

Typically 4-6 weeks for full-day sessions (to allow proper preparation). Travel logistics may require additional lead time depending on location.

If you have a shorter timeline, reach out anyway — I can sometimes accommodate urgent requests.

Do you travel internationally? +

Yes. International travel is billed at cost (flights, accommodation, ground transportation). We'll include travel estimates in your proposal before you commit.

What if we get stuck finalizing our OKRs after the offsite? +

You have a few options:

  • "How are we doing?" OKR Review — Submit your finalized OKRs for expert feedback before you commit
  • Upgrade to Done-with-You OKR Consulting — If you realize you want more guidance, we can scope a Done-with-You OKR Consulting engagement to help you finalize
  • Self-serve resources — The book and No-BS OKRs Essentials course can help you work through common sticking points

Many teams finalize successfully on their own. But if you get stuck, there's a path forward.

What size leadership team is this designed for? +

Ideal: 5-10 people. This is large enough for diverse perspectives but small enough for real dialogue. Larger groups (up to 15) can work with modified facilitation approaches.

If you're thinking about a much larger group, we should discuss whether this format is right or if a different approach would serve you better.

What if our team has significant disagreements? +

Good — that's often where the real work is. I have advanced training in conflict management (Kilmann Diagnostics) specifically because disagreement is common and valuable. Surfacing and working through differences is better than papering over them with vague language.

If I sense the conflict level exceeds what can be addressed in a facilitation session, I'll tell you and recommend a different approach.

What's the conflict assessment add-on? +

The TKI (Thomas-Kilmann Inventory) is a conflict assessment that identifies each person's preferred conflict-handling modes. At $1,250/person, it includes:

  • TKI administration for each participant
  • 30-minute 1:1 debrief with each person individually
  • Team report that informs the facilitation work

It's especially useful for teams where people are "nice" (accommodating and avoidant), overly competitive, or otherwise overuse some conflict styles. The workshop helps people build their non-default modes and understand team dynamics.

After your offsite

You leave with draft OKRs, strategy artifacts, and clear next steps. Most teams finalize their OKRs within 1-2 weeks of the offsite.

If you need more support:

  • OKR Review — Submit your finalized OKRs for expert feedback before you commit
  • Done-with-You OKR Consulting — Upgrade to full expert guidance if you realize you want more hands-on support through implementation
